Happiness Guidance vs Coaching: What’s the Difference?

Happiness Guidance vs Coaching: What’s the Difference?

If you’ve ever explored personal growth, you’ve probably come across the word coaching 100 times.

While coaching can be incredibly helpful, it doesn’t always resonate with everyone. Sometimes it feels too structured, too focused on outcomes, or disconnected from what’s actually happening underneath the surface.

That’s usually where a different approach, something like happiness guidance, starts to make more sense.

Where this overlaps with coaching

At its core, this work is a form of coaching.

We still look at:

  • where you are

  • what you want

  • what’s getting in the way

  • and how to move forward

There is accountability. There is challenge. You won’t just sit in the same patterns and talk about them forever. The end goal is growth.

Where it’s different

The difference is how we get there.

Instead of only focusing on goals and action steps, we also pay attention to something a lot of people have learned to ignore:

👉 your intuition

Not in a vague or mystical way, but in a very real, grounded sense of:

  • what feels true

  • what feels off

  • what you already know but might not be trusting

Most people aren’t stuck because they don’t know what to do, they’re stuck because they’re disconnected from themselves.

You will be challenged, but not pushed past yourself

This isn’t passive.

You will be challenged:

  • to be honest

  • to look at patterns

  • to take responsibility for your choices

The goal isn’t to force change or push you into something that doesn’t feel aligned. It’s to help you move forward in a way that actually holds.

This is not therapy

Happiness guidance is not therapy, and it’s not a replacement for mental health care. We’re not diagnosing, treating, or working through clinical issues.

This work is focused on:

  • self-awareness

  • decision-making

  • personal growth

  • and moving forward in your life

If you’re looking for therapy, I’m always happy to point you in the right direction.

Who this tends to resonate with

This work tends to click for people who:

  • feel stuck but don’t want surface-level advice

  • are tired of overthinking everything

  • want to trust themselves more

  • are open to being challenged, but not controlled
